The eleventh annual Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards (CAMA) were held in Hamilton, Ontario on Friday, November 27, 2009. The evening was marked by the incredible Buffy Sainte-Marie’s four awards, including Best Album, Best Single, Best Female Artist, Best Songwriter. Frankly, given how many higher-profile Canadian artists tend to eschew other non-Juno award ceremonies, Buffy’s presence, enthusiastic performance, and gracious humility spoke volumes about her class, and of the growing significance of the CAMA.
